A hemicolectomy is a partial colectomy in which a diseased or damaged portion of the large intestine (colon) is surgically removed. This procedure is most performed to treat conditions such as: 🔹 Colorectal cancer – Removal of tumor-affected sections of the colon. 🔹 Crohn’s disease – Surgical management of inflammation-related complications. 🔹 Diverticulitis – Treatment for severe infections or perforations in the colon. 🔹 Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – Advanced cases requiring surgical intervention.
