A gastrectomy is a surgical procedure to remove part or all the stomach, typically performed to treat conditions such as: 🔸 Stomach cancer – Surgical removal of malignant tumors. 🔸 Severe peptic ulcers – Cases where ulcers have caused significant damage. 🔸 Benign gastric tumors – Non-cancerous growths affecting digestion. 🔸 Obesity treatment – Certain weight-loss surgeries may involve partial gastrectomy. Depending on the underlying medical condition, the surgery may involve: Partial gastrectomy – Removing only the affected portion of the stomach. Total gastrectomy – Removing the entire stomach, with reconstruction of the digestive tract.
