Frenectomy
Know Your Dental Treatment
A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure that involves the removal or modification of a frenum—a small fold of tissue that may restrict movement in the mouth. The two most common types are the labial frenum, which connects the upper lip to the gums, and the lingual frenum, which attaches the tongue to the floor of the mouth. This procedure is often performed to improve oral function, speech, or orthodontic alignment.
